Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Prime Lambs & Cast Ewes, Monday 6th October 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

Well fed lambs being the order of the day, attracting keenest buyer interest and easily sold, with those straight off grassland lacking finish a more selective trade. The usual consignment of well finished lambs from J Twigge sold to £165 and £165. This was closely followed by KA Purtill achieving £162, £161and DJ Clarke £160. The heavier end of the standard weight lambs were £148 to £157, with grass finished £135 to £142, lightweights to £127 and others £118 to £125. Hill bred lambs forward in ever increasing numbers, with heavy Mules to £161.
A trailer full of well finished Texel cross lambs from TR Prickett lead the way selling to 363p/kg with other better end 320p/kg to 350p/kg, commercial lambs were 305p/kg to 318p/kg with several pens less being under finished grass fed lambs. An overall market average of 308p/kg was achieved.

CAST SHEEP

No let up in trade with the best Texels to £268 and £260. First cross continentals to £180 with most generally £140 to £158. Mules sold to £154, with mediums £120 to £135. Hill ewes sold to £114 for Swaledales, several feeding jobs ringside keen for all breeds.
